To celebrate earning the ICF Coach Supervisor Specialization (CSS) badge, I am gifting five 90-minute coach supervision (also known as Super-Vision) sessions to the ICF community.
If you have never had coach supervision, I would like to give you (pro bono) a spot in one of five 90-minute sessions from November through January.
As a Mentor Coach who mentors mostly ACCs and some PCCs, I realize many coaches don’t understand what coach supervision is. Often during a mentor coaching session, a mentor client asks a question, and I reply that that is really a supervision question rather than a mentoring question. I frequently get a blank look and questions about supervision. Thus, I would like to help up to forty credentialed coaches experience group supervision.
I have set aside time for five pro bono sessions. Three will be on a Friday morning (10:30 AM to noon Central North American time), and two will be on a Tuesday evening (6:00 to 7:30 PM Central North American time). Each session can ONLY accommodate eight credentialed coaches.
To participate, you MUST (1) already hold an ICF credential (ACC, PCC), (2) have at least five active clients, and (3) have not participated in group or individual supervision previously. This should NOT include peer coaches that you are actively bartering with.
A registered coach participant will need to bring a topic in one of the following three broad areas within coaching:
- Client-Specific Dynamics and Issues
- Feeling stuck: Struggling to help a client make progress or feeling uncertain about what approach to try next.
- Challenging or unengaged clients: Dealing with clients who are resistant, talkative, flirtatious, overly dependent, or detached from the process.
- Triggers and counter-transference: Exploring moments where a client’s story or behavior triggers an emotional reaction, personal bias, or past memory in the coach.
- Contracting and boundaries: Navigating tricky boundaries, multi-party/corporate sponsor agreements, ending engagements, or scope creep.
- Ethics, Safety, and Standards
- Ethical dilemmas: Unpacking gray areas, conflicts of interest, confidentiality limits, or moral alignment with specific business types.
- Systemic pressures: Managing the broader organizational or cultural system in which the coaching takes place.
- Quality and competence: Evaluating whether the coach is operating at a high standard, staying true to core competencies, and handling specific technical challenges.
- The Coach as a Person (The “Who”)
- Well-being and burnout: Processing compassion fatigue, high stress, or an inability to prioritize self-care.
- Confidence and inner dialogue: Addressing imposter syndrome, self-doubt, or limiting beliefs (“Am I good enough as a coach?”).
- Professional identity: Exploring shifts in personal style, questioning whether to pivot between coaching and mentoring, or valuing one’s worth (such as setting proper pricing).
- Celebrating successes: Reviewing what went exceptionally well with a client to turn accidental competence into intentional competence.
Each coach participant will briefly present a topic, and the group will choose two topics to address in supervision. Each coach will also be involved in listening and engaging with the two supervised coaches (as time permits). At the end of the session, each coach will identify an action they want to take forward into their own client coaching relationships.
Coaches who attend the full session may claim 1.5 core competency CEUs under the supervision tab. Please only register and attend one session. If you would like to attend other group supervision sessions, we can arrange for that opportunity after the holiday season.
NOTE: credentialed coaches may claim up to 10 CEUs during each 3-year credential period. Of course, you can engage in supervision more frequently, but only 10 hours can currently be claimed as part of your 40-hour renewal requirement.
If you qualify based on the three requirements above, please see the links below to register for the ONE session of your choice. Reminder: each session is limited to eight participants. If you cannot register for your first choice, please make a second choice.
